Wagaya no Oinari-sama: stupid boy rant

So far it’s been dropped awesome average as a series and it’s right between drop land and watch land. I came into this series hoping for light hearted moments, some romance, and a bit of seriousness. So I came to one realization: why would I drop it if it was everything I wanted it to be? Well that was because it had one cliche that I hate so very much. I’m almost willing to murder imaginary people and I feel sad about that. Continue reading ‘Wagaya no Oinari-sama: stupid boy rant’

Crap story time: Boredom of Boys

This is the story of a nameless boy who will not be named. He lives in a small town where most families know their neighbors and everyone leads a happy and simple life. Everyone doesn’t make a big deal and everyone is happy about everything in their lives. Until by chance, our nameless boy meets a girl who will change his course of history.

Druaga no To ~Aegis of Uruk~

I feel like I rushed through this series, finishing it in one day. It’s a really nice series in my opinion although it’s filled with things I’ve seen in other anime. It doesn’t strike me as anything new but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t fun. Starting off the first episode with a whole lot of Gurren-style fun, I was amused to say the least. To find out that it was all just a dream brought the series back to Earth and made it more serious. I enjoy serious anime with light hearted moments like these.

Late first impressions on anime

Black Cat – So far, it’s been barely sticking to the manga but it’s been enjoyable. Regrettably the animation isn’t as well as I expected but that’s what you get for watching it a few years too late. Animation doesn’t really affect me when it comes to anime anyway. So I definitely finish it because it’s under 30 episodes long. Hopefully.

Tower of Druaga – Another 12 episode series to watch and so far it’s been great. I was almost reminded of Gurren back in episode one. The plot reminds me of old Disney classics where a hidden prince tries to save a  princess in distress. Despite the light mood at the beginning, it’s really starting to darken. Makes me wonder what would happen next.

Final Thoughts: Persona 3

I thought I’d do a separate thought on Answer so I did.

Due to distractions

If you thought I was quitting after 6 days (not counting today and the days leading up to it) then you are wrong. But the weeks are crazy nowadays, something must be wrong with me. I’ve decided to do things I would never do if I were still in my normal state of depression and lack of confidence. I’ve even starting reading Detective Conan (Case Closed), Persona 3, and to-LOVE-ru. I also decided to check facebook one more time more than the healthy rate of checking it (that being never. Ever.).

An impression of mainstream anime

People usually start their otaku age through mainstream anime, most of them are probably still watching those anime. When listing mainstream, around three or four come to mind: Naruto, Bleach, Gundam. Most likely the whole otaku population has come in contact with at least one and liked it enough to start watching other anime. Eventually however, they either start rejecting or turn into a idiot obsessed with it (also known as a Narutard). But I’ve always wondered why I started to hate animes like Naruto and Bleach (or start dropping them) and today, I decided to make an attempt at answering this.

I once thought I was normal…

For most of my life I have been always fascinated by Japanese visual culture. Back when I was a toddler, I asked my mother to get cable just for Ultraman. I still have lots of action figures from back then. I’ve enjoyed the good and the bad, the mainstream and the not-so-mainstream. Anime has inspired me to think differently and look at the word differently. But for the sake of enjoyment, I will try to keep this as shallow as I can.
